Philanthropy

In 2020, during the midst of the pandemic, the Parish Council formed a Philanthropy Committee of the parish is dedicated to embodying the principles of compassion, service, and love within our community by providing opportunities for our faithful to demonstrate their faith. We strive to extend a helping hand to those in need, uplift the marginalized, and foster a culture of generosity.

Guided by the words of Epistle of James, 2:14-17, which reminds us, "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, 'Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." We recognize the imperative to translate our beliefs into meaningful action, to serve as beacons of light and hope in a world often shrouded in darkness.

With humility and resolve, we pledge to identify areas of need, mobilize resources, and engage in initiatives that alleviate suffering and nurture the inherent dignity of every individual. Inspired by the example of Christ and the wisdom of our tradition, through our collective efforts and our partnership with the Metropolis of Chicago’s Project HOPE, we aspire to build a community where love in action is not merely a slogan but a way of life.

So far, we have made over 300,000 meals, 200 school bags full with supplies, and provided over 500 hot meals. You can help at anytime by donating to this ministry by clicking the following link. Would you like to do more? Consider joining us!

Some of our events include a community-wide Food Pack event, done together with Project HOPE where we assemble 500 bags of shelf-stable food that can feed a family of four for a week; an annual Feed6 event where we package food at our facility; providing hot meals once a month; packing backpacks with supplies; and quietly ministering to those in need/crisis.
