J.O.Y. - Junior Orthodox Youth

Membership open to: 7th Grade and under
Activities: "J.O.Y. Nite", a night of workshops; crafts; singing; fun!
To be held monthly starting in September 2007. Also see

G.O.Y.A. - Greek Orthodox
Youth of America

Membership open to: 8th - 12th Grades.
Meetings are held: Every Monday from the second Monday of
September through the first Monday in June, unless otherwise noted, at
Church from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. (This includes meeting, spiritual
activity, and open gym time.) Teen discussions held on Thursday
evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Fee: $20.00 stewardship plus outings cost.
Purpose: Uniting teenagers together in fellowship within
the spiritual and social environment of the Church and to increase their
knowledge of the Orthodox Christian way of life.
Activities: G.O.Y.A. is the umbrella organization for all
of our teen youth programs. Typical activities include the annual ski
trip, the Great America trip and attendance at various professional and
collegiate sporting events as well as visiting children's
hospitals, nursing homes, Christmas caroling, sponsoring the Church's
Christmas card, Bake sales, and hosting dances.

YOUNG ADULT FELLOWSHIP

Membership open to: Adults 18-35 years old.
Fee: None.
Purpose: To bring young adults together spiritually,
socially, athletically, and culturally.

ADULT FAMILY FELLOWSHIP

Participation: open to all Parish Families
Activities: Seasonal events in
conjunction with JOY Activity Nite, and the Annual Ski Trip (January) in
conjunction with GOYA
MARRIED COUPLES FELLOWSHIP

Participation: open to all Parish Families
Purpose: To reach out to married
couples, to help them meet other couples within our parish, to explore
their Orthodox Faith, and to learn ways to incorporate their faith into
their family's daily lives
KORAES PARENT TEACHER
ASSOCIATION (Day School)
Contact: Wendy Pettas, President, 708-306-0611
Membership open to: Parents of Koraes students and other
interested persons.
Meetings are held: Early each month. Meetings alternate between 9:00
a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and are held on church or school premises.
Fee: $15 per family, $5 for members who are not parents.
Purpose: To promote cooperation between the Church, the
School and the home for the good of our children, and to support the
school through volunteer programs and fundraising.
Activities: Architecture seminars, Art Workshops, Bake
Sales, Community Breakfast at Easter and Christmas, Cultural Arts,
Annual Dinner Dance, Easter candles, Hot Lunch, J.O.Y Basketball
Concessions, Jr. Great Books, Jr. Olympic Concessions, Lenten Dinner,
Parent Tutors, Room Mothers, Santa's Workshop, Teachers’ Gifts, Teachers
Luncheons, Yearbook.
KORAES PARENT TEACHER
ASSOCIATION (Afternoon Greek School)

Membership open to: Parents of afternoon school students.
Meetings are held: The first Tuesday of every month at
4:30p.m.
Fee: $15.
Purpose: To promote awareness of the Koraes afternoon
school and provide support, both financial and through volunteer
programs.
Activities: OXI Day (October 28th), Greek lndependence Day
Celebration (March 25th), Three Hierarchs, Graduation, Bake Sales,
Christmas Social and providing refreshments at various programs.
LADIES HELLENIC SOCIETY "Agia
Paraskevi"
Contact: Celia McGrath, President at 773-581-1096.
Membership open to: Adult women, 18 and up.
Meetings are held: Bi-monthly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday
of the month at church.
Fee: $15.00 membership dues.
Purpose: A social and philanthropic organization helping
those in need.
Activities: A Fall Fashion Show, a Bake Sale and the
Hellenic Senior Dinner, as well as various day trips are a few of the
many events of “Agia Paraskevi”.
ST. HELEN WOMEN'S
PHILOPTOCHOS
Contact: Cathy Gofis, President at 708-430-3884.
Membership open to: Women of the Greek Orthodox faith, at
least 18 years old who are members of a Greek Orthodox parish.
Meetings are held: Every second Tuesday each month at the
Church.
Fee: Annual Stewardship with a suggested $30.00 minimum.
Purpose: Philoptochos is a nationally chartered
organization assisting the needy and the poor on an international,
national, and local level, Saint Helen’s supports the many activities
within the parish, both through member volunteer time as well as
financial means. The organization is active primarily in charitable
programs and activities.
Activities: Annual events have included the Holiday Arts &
Crafts Show, the Post-Holiday Dinner Dance, and the Pastry Booth at the
Greek Festival. Also, the organization sponsors many social and
philanthropic outings for its members.
